Play Therapy

What is it?

At Southill FRC, play therapy sometimes called Play and Creative Arts Therapy is a child-centered therapeutic approach that uses play, art, and other creative tools to help children express and process emotions, especially when words fall short. It’s a safe, supportive space where children can explore their feelings through imagination and interaction.

How can it help?

Play therapy at Southill FRC can support children by:

Helping them manage anxiety, sadness, or anger Building emotional resilience and self-confidence. Supporting recovery from trauma, grief, or family changes. Improving communication and social skills. Encouraging healthy coping strategies. Therapists at Southill FRC are trained to gently guide children through this process, helping them make sense of their experiences in a way that feels natural

and empowering.

Who is it for?

This service is designed for children and young people who may be:

 

  • Struggling with emotional or behavioral challenges

  • Coping with family separation, loss, or trauma

  • Experiencing difficulties at school or with peers

  • Living with neurodiverse conditions like autism or ADHD
